How are you handling hygiene?

I’d like to reassure you that hygiene is top priority for freude bakes - we have been awarded a 5* hygiene rating by Erewash Borough Council. All of our staff undertake Level 2 Food Safety Training annually to make sure we’re up to speed on the latest guidance from the Food Standards Agency.

We are a tiny team of 2, therefore it is very easy to monitor and control my production, storage and packaging spaces.

We wash our hands regularly and in accordance with Government guidance. We use gloves when handling your ready-to-eat products.

I have no idea what I want, can you help?

Of course! First, take a peek at sites like Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. And have a look at my gallery too. Think about the colour schemes, styles and elements you like. We can have a chat to pinpoint the things you love, then I can develop something tailored to you.

Can I choose the design?

Absolutely! I specialise in modern buttercream cakes and prefer not to work with fondant coverings. However, I’ll work closely with you by email and draft a design so we can agree on a visual you’re happy with. I can’t always accommodate every type of cake or decoration, so please have a look at my gallery to get a feel for my general design style. And if you’re not sure, just ask!

What size cake should I order?

If you need to feed a group, I’d recommend ordering enough to cover 75% of the party because not everyone will want cake (I know, what?!?!). I find that people are more inclined to double-dip with cupcakes (why wouldn’t you?) so in this case, order one for everyone.

How much notice do you need for large events, like weddings?

I’d recommend booking 4-6 months in advance for weddings and large parties to guarantee availability. For detailed and more customised cakes, please allow 2 months.

And what about smaller orders?

For the smaller and ‘less is more’ type bakes, please allow 2-3 weeks. However, if you’re in need of a last-minute sweet treat, please do ask. I’ll always try my best to accommodate, but we’re a tiny team so more notice is always handy!
